Podcasting HowTo

By Larry Hendrick | January 19, 2006

I was going through the original posts where I was teaching myself how to build a podcast and upload to a website. It wasn’t the easiest thing, but there was lots of help on the Internet and soon I was up and running. The culmination of this endeavor is the blog site and podcast, Motivation on the Run. Here is a link to that group of posts.

Beginning Lesson
The Experiment Designed
The Definitions
The Hardware and Software
The First Trial and Settings
Working out RSS issues

Podcast #2 further tests
More RSS issues, but with the solution
Moved from Movable Type to Wordpress to resolve RSS issues
The Podcast Topic Revealed
Recording Toastmaster speech for last test
The Toastmaster Speech

Wow, I didn’t realize the project was so involved. The biggest problem I had in the process was the RSS issues and figuring out how to get that taken care of. Little did I know it was the platform that wouldn’t do the process. In Movable Type’s defense, there were some third party products at that time that would have added that feature, but Wordpress had it built in. At the time, that was enough reason to bolt.

Now 7 months later, I am glad I did. The Wordpress platform is awesome and with third party plug-ins, you can do almost anything. I even used a plug-in to add the podcast, Motivation on the Run to the iTunes library.
