Laptop Keyboard Update
By Larry Hendrick | August 24, 2007
Last week I fretted about the problems I was having with my keyboard. I ran more tests and like reader Dave, came to the conclusion the problem had to be hardware. Everything kept pointing to the keyboard, not the connections or motherboard.
I jumped on eBay and found a Dell Inspiron 2100 keyboard with a $0.99 minimum bid. The Buy-it-Now was $15.00, but because of the age of my laptop, I opted to bid $0.99 and take my chances. I won the bid, and with $8.00 shipping, I have invested another $8.99 in my laptop.
The problem seems resolved with the new (used) keyboard installed. I am typing this article on it, and all the keys are functioning properly. I am thrilled!
Trouble shooting computer issues will sometimes drive a sane person insane, but it looks like the diagnosis was correct.
Of course, time will tell.
I’m back three hours later to finish this post and it still works. Great!
