Shelby GT500 Gets Red Stripe Treatment
By Larry Hendrick | April 16, 2007
As much as I love the Shelby GT500, I’m not that enthused about this new package Ford is introducing. I love the white/blue stripe and the red/black stripe, but the black/white/red stripe doesn’t do it for me. I’m not sure why, but maybe it’s because it seems to try to hard for cool.
Ford readies Shelby GT500 Red Stripe Appearance Package - Autoblog
Ford’s getting ready to release yet another special Mustang trim package. This time, the recipient is the top dog Shelby GT500. The big news isn’t really that big at all in the grand scheme of things. The Red Stripe Appearance Package consists of a black or white GT500 with — you guessed it — red stripes on the hood, roof, and side of the car. The interior gets in on the act, too, with red inserts on black leather seats, plus premium carpeting and floormats featuring a silver-and-red Cobra logo. The package costs $1,650 and for that price, buyers also get a Shelby car cover included as a throw-in.

I agree completely, Matt. Thanks for stopping by Business Unusual. It’s appreciated.

The car will vary at different dealers, but if you don't have a cool Fifty Gs, you probably shouldn't get your hopes up.
Just the Red stripe treatment package runs almost $1700.

$1700 for the car and the red stripe or just the red stripe?

But how much would a Mustang and the red stripe go for? 21g's? or higher?

Sticker price runs about $42,000, but the demand is so high, most dealers are getting $60,000+ for each one.
You can step back and buy a used 2007 for about $45,000.
If the demand for the Black & Red stripe is high enough, it could go for even more. Early on, some Shelby GT500 sold for up to $100,000.

That’s not just the Black, it’s all of them, and yes it’s a whole lot of bucks for a car … but I still want one!
Maybe in 2015 I can afford a 2008 model. Who knows.

I am hoping that they will come down somewhere near retail within the next 9 months. Not the red and black those will be more. It’s a shame that these things go so far over MSRP atm. I just can’t afford that much. The new package is interesting, but I would prefer their current ones over it. This will, however, be one unique mustang.

I’m with you Rich. I think the concept is really cool, but I’m holding out for a 2007 Shelby GT500, myself. It’s even more expensive right now, and I can’t afford any of them … right now.
