How Cool are Pull Quotes?
By Larry Hendrick | September 17, 2006
Add elegance to your site with Pull Quotes
Do you have a desire to add value for your readers and elegance to the look of your articles? In reading magazine articles, have you thought to yourself, “I sure wish I could use pull quotes on my site.” Well now it is not only possible, but fairly easy to do.
At the website Pearsonified, I found a lot of great information about customizing sites and within all that information, instructions on modifying the CSS to include pull quotes for your site.
The article is well written and contains most of the information you will need to modify your website for this feature, but in working through the instructions, I discovered one thing missing. No where in the article does it tell you how to ‘call’ the pull quote so it shows up.
Just make sure you don’t over use them
Never fear, I have that for you here. After all, adding value is what it’s all about, right? This adds a class to your CSS and to invoke it, just place “blockquote class=”right” or “left”", followed by the text for the pull quote, then close the blockquote in the normal fashion. You will of course need to open and close each of these with the <> and .
Now let’s go out there and have some fun, but remember … let’s be careful out there.
