Earthlink Wins Another One

Earthlink has won another selection process to build out a Muni WiFi network for the City of Pasadena, California. This will be a for profit wireless network with special discounts for needs-based people.

ATLANTA — EarthLink (NASDAQ: ELNK - message board), the nation’s next generation Internet service provider (ISP), today announced that it has been selected by the City of Pasadena to enter into negotiations to build, own and operate a 23 square mile citywide municipal wireless network.

The Wi-Fi mesh network will provide affordable, high-speed Internet access for residents, businesses and visitors to the home of the Rose Bowl. EarthLink will offer a symmetrical, 1 Mbps solution for customers and will work with the City to develop a digital inclusion program to offer certain qualifying residents discounted Internet access.
