Cars I Have Loved
By Larry Hendrick | June 8, 2006
For some time I have had the desire to write an article about the cars I have owned. I listed them all and started writing different things I remembered about each one, like the colors, engine size, etc. As this continued, the document got longer and longer, so I thought to get started, I would give some basic facts about the cars I have owned. I also encourage you to let me know about yours.
- There have been fourteen cars
- My first car was a 1960 Ford Station Wagon
- My current care is a 1995 Chrysler Concorde
- My oldest car was a 1952 Plymouth Sedan
- My newest car is a 1996 Mercury Cougar
- My nicest car is a draw between a 1973 Cadillac Coupe De Ville and a 1983 Ford LTD Crown Victoria
- Four of them were green, five white, two gold, two blue and one maroon
- Three were considered trucks; 1968 Ranchero, 1980 Ford F150, 1983 Ford Bronco
- Seven were FoMoCo vehicles, three Chrysler Corp, three General Motors, one Toyota
- I got my first car in June of 1967 when I was still fifteen (want the date?)
- I’ve never owned more than three at a time (but three several times)
- My favorite was a 1965 Mercury Comet Caliente, 2 door hardtop
- I haven’t had a car payment in six years
That’s a bakers dozen facts about the cars that are or were in my life. Over the next few weeks, I plan on telling a few stories about some of the cars, some fond memories and some not so fond. Walking down memory lane is a fun substitute for growing up and acting like an adult.
