“We are still a long way from WiMAX being a fully mobile technology,” says Gabriel, also she acknowledges that the ‘e’ variant is likely to be the option preferred by large operators (and the large vendors) in due course. Even so, market watchers do acknowledge a real danger that 802.16e will be subject to slippage. “This has become a technology race,” says Gabriel.
