How to blog during vacations
By Larry Hendrick | January 3, 2006
Coming off a one week vacation between Christmas and New Years, I sympathize with Stephen about this issue and now realize that more preparation is required before something like this happens again.
My details were different, but the end results are the same. My wife and I moved during the vacation and I did not have an Internet connection for that week. There was not a lot of time to spend on the Internet even if it was working, but I am amazed at how much I missed writing.
Stephen lists the options and how he handled it, so go read his thoughts.
I clearly haven’t figured this one out yet. Problogger offers pros and cons on a long list of options, from just shutting up shop to inviting in guest bloggers.
My problem is this. I want to keep blogging, but my mind is off-theme. I’m not thinking about the world “where business and media collide.”
I must admit, I was poorly prepared for not being able to post for the week, but I do believe there is a difference with blogging as a job and blogging on a subject you are passionate about. With Business Unusual and Motivation on the Run, I have several outlets for my thoughts, and my mind is always occupied with something to write about. My writing is done on my own time in the evenings and on weekends, so being on vacation is just more of the same for me.
It is something to think about if you have a vacation coming up soon and you are a blogger.
