Coffee is the Elixir of Life
By Larry Hendrick | December 19, 2005
I personally have tried the K-cups and the Senseo and I can truly vouch for the K-cups and enjoyed the fresh brewed coffee that resulted. They have a good variety of coffees and the best: that fresh brewed cup at 2:00 PM hitting the spot.
The Senseo, however, did not impress me. It did not have the flavor, and the cup size is 4oz., so you have to make a double cup each time for a cup of coffee.
Both of these are more expensive than buying Folgers or Maxwell House cans, but the coffee does not “cook” on the burner, ruining the flavor of the elixir of life.

Green Mountain and other small specialty brewers like it are trying to capture the higher end of the market with their more expensive brews and their fancier brewing systems. But companies from Procter & Gamble Co.’s Folgers brand to Sara Lee Corp.’s Senseo and Kraft Foods’ Maxwell House also are trying to capitalize on what a number of companies believe is an emerging trend in the home kitchen.
