Huge News for Feline Owners

The first thing I thought of when I saw this news was how cat owners could have their own domain. Yes it is supposed to be for Catalan speaking folks, but I will bet when it comes available, a lot of USA people will own a .cat domain. The cat industry is HUGE here, so it is a natural.
Creating the “.cat” suffix for individuals, organizations and companies that promote the Catalan language and culture was relatively uncontroversial. Though the language is spoken largely in certain regions of Spain, backers say a domain name could unify Catalan speakers who live in France, Italy, Andorra and elsewhere. The name could begin appearing in use next year.

You are right,,but thereīs something here i donīt get to understand. I am catalan, from barcelona, and as soon as i read that the .cat domain was finally released i realized that it really doesnīt matter as i cannot get any domain!
I have tried with nominalia, no success as they address me to puntcat.org and according to the info in both sites i cannot get any domain until next year!..Very unfair if you consider the fact that it happens very often that being the first to get the domain means more chances of making money with it as it is something meaningful,,,
Please correct me if i am wrong and let me know the place in where i can immediately buy that domain.

From what I understand, once they approve sale of a new suffix for domains, it doesn’t immediately become available. This is just the approval process from ICANN, then the resellers will begin to make it available in the near future.
