The TV Playing Field Just Tipped

I have to admit, I never thought this would ever happen. This is another big win for the telcos. They must be feeling pretty good right now.

The battle over the telecommunications bill had pitted cable companies against telephone companies. Under the measure, telephone companies will be granted statewide franchises to deliver subscription television services.
Local franchises held by cable companies will stay in effect until those contracts expire. If signed by Perry, Texas would be the first state to adopt a statewide franchise.
