Bells Free From DSL Obligations: Two

Bells Free From DSL Obligations
To ease the transition for Internet service providers (ISPs), such as EarthLink (Quote, Chart), that lease discount lines from the incumbent carriers, the FCC imposed a one-year transition period on the Bells in which they must continue to offer discount line prices to competitors.
To be clear here, as an Independent ISP in the Verizon territory, we pay 43% more for access to the telephone line which we provide our DSL over, than the consumer already pays for the same telephone line and this was the discount rate. Our line cost is higher than what the Bells sell Internet Access for and then we have to add in our bandwidth cost, which I assure you, is not cheap.
This will certainly be an interesting week coming up.
