Supreme Court Rulings

Wednesday, June 29th, 2005

The last week or two has been a very busy time for the United States Supreme Court, especially in the technology arena. They have ruled for the cable companies and against Grokster and the speculation is rampant on the ramifications from these rulings.
Cable companies “do not” have to share their lines with competitors who could [...]

Reflections on Father’ Day

Sunday, June 26th, 2005

One week has passed since Father’s Day, 2005 and it was a great day for me in many ways. I spent time with my son and his family including the, many times mentioned, granddaughter. The pleasure was all mine, I assure you.
I also spent time reflecting on a man that was a hero to me [...]

I’ve Found the Missing Movies Ticket Sales

Friday, June 24th, 2005

It seems you would rather watch old TV shows of your choosing than buy movie theater tickets. (see previous post)

Slumping Ticket Sales

Wednesday, June 22nd, 2005

The last time we saw a story like this, the movie industry announced that the reason for the slumping ticket sales was “pirated” DVDs. Now the first paragraph states it “your” fault. You would rather watch movies at home than go to the theater and pay 7 bucks each for tickets and 9 bucks each [...]

The Weekend Trip

Monday, June 20th, 2005

I can’t help it when I say having a granddaughter is more fun than just about anything.
She and her mom had spent the week with friends, 3 moms and 8 kids, at a beach house not far from where we live. The circumstances were such that the Redhead ran down and picked them up [...]

David Allen’s “Getting Things Done”

Tuesday, June 14th, 2005

I have taken the plunge and ordered David Allen’s book “Getting Things Done” and have been setting up my Palm Tungsten T5 to get more organized. This will probably surprise a few people that feel I am the most organized person they know, but one can always learn more.
I have read a lot from [...]

The Promised Toastmaster Speech

Sunday, June 12th, 2005

As promised, the Toastmaster speech is converted to an MP3 file and is uploaded. I am sorry for the delay, but you know how it is.
This is the first time I have taken something from one audio file and inserted it into another. I did this for the 30 seconds that I was playing [...]

Wading in on Municipal WiFi

Sunday, June 12th, 2005

I have held off on this topic waiting for someone to bring some sense to the discussion, but alas, no such thing is happening. I continue to hear people bemoan the fact that Verizon (Big Business/Big Pockets) and others of like stature, are trying to stop a revolution from happening. Free WiFi provided by the [...]
