Learning to Build a Podcast #0
By Larry Hendrick | May 14, 2005
I love technology. There, I’ve said it and admit it freely. It can be cruel as you try to stay up with the advancements in the industry, but when it is your passion, you cope.
Late last year, I upgraded from my Palm Vx to a new Palm Tungsten T5, and a new era began. My new T5 is capable of playing audio files so I began by “ripping” a few of my CDs in order to carry them with me. This was a neat thing and I was enjoying some old music again.
The next thing that happened was the discovery of “podcasts” that were available from a lot of sources and on a lot of subjects. I was quickly hooked and began trying different casts to find the ones that were worth a place on my TT5. I listen on the way to work every morning and on the way home in the evenings. The radio is now only important for the cassette adapter and the speaker system.
Because of my personality, I must now learn how to do this. Today, I am starting a project to discover how to do my own “palmcast” recording. I plan on documenting this step by step from programs to developing the idea, working on the theme, recording the audio, and making them available on the web.
I have no idea how difficult this will be, but I must know how and am anxious to begin. I am beginning a new category so the series can be looked at separately so someone can learn from my experiments.
The excitement abounds…
