Some are free, some are not and all are more complicated than I think they ought to be. In my research, I have found that you must make decisions on what is important and what is less important. Each has a unique set of features and they do not seem to overlap.
Do you want pictures, email posting, categories, support? These are important questions and the answer is, yes... However, the answer is also no...
It depends on the package and whether you pay for certain things. One will allow picture posting with auto sizing features, but no email posting. Another is set up for email posting, but does not have photo handling. When you start moving toward a more professional package, the compromises come into play.
One of our tech guys has moved to the "movable type" platform and hosts it on his own domain, which is what I am looking to do. In looking at their package, it causes my head to start hurting. These things are not "plug-n-play" at all. There are a lot of different things that need configuring and modifying, especially if you want to do certain things.
Well, time marches on and I will continue my quest...
