12/24/2004 07:35:46 PM|||Larry||| December 24th is not an unusual date for snow, but not on the Gulf Coast. It is a rare event to have temperatures cold enough for snow here, but several times today it has "spit" snow. Chances are there will not be any acumulation of any kind, but it's still pretty cool (no pun intended).
I am not a creature of the cold and must admit that temperatures in the upper 90s or lower 100s are more fitting to me. I like hot, what can I say...
As is my tradition, I did my Christmas shopping today, which was pretty easy. I knew what I wanted and knew where to locate the items, so it was a matter of making a run around the area hitting the stores for the things on my list. The cold must have affected the shoppers, because the crowds were not what I expected. People shopping, yes, but I found parking spots close at several stores.
Have you ever noticed the strange things that show up on the shelves of stores only at Christmas? All types of kitchen gadgets that have a questionable use for the hers, boxes of multi-tool sets for the hims. They are always displayed in the store at the point of desperation in the shopping trip, near the checkout lanes. At this point the trap is set for the unsuspecting male shopper. After trying 6 stores to find something appropriate with no luck, this provides a fall back position for us. Grab a few her gifts and several him gifts and we're set. A little gift wrap, some tape, and WOW, done...
What a country...
