I recently finished reading On Writing by Stephen King and wanted to give you a quick report. King wrote this book in 1999 and takes a subject that could be dry and dull, and transforms it into a real page turner. I’m serious!
King starts with a brief history about his discovery of the love for writing, then segues into his philosophy on the art of writing. Stressing the use of active verbs and choosing the right words, King tells the story of cutting and culling to create clean text.
“Just tell us what you saw” is the advise Kings gives to aspiring writers, while encouraging writers … read constantly. Reading gets the ideas flowing and allows a style to develop and flourish with the new found discipline of writing.
King is a goal setting achiever, also. His daily writing goal pushes the boundaries for a normal human, but then … he is Stephen King, a very prolific writer.
I enjoyed this book a great deal and heartily recommend it to anyone that writes or reads. It’s that good.

Tom, thanks for dropping by. I promise you won’t be disappointed. I found a paperback for less than $8 after my wife suggested it to me.
