I started this article with doubt in my mind, but after reading it, think there might be more truth here than I would like to admit.
We like to use the mantra, “Work smarter, not harder,” but very seldom achieve the desired results from my observations. It seems the more we try, the harder we work just to stay afloat in the sea of competition. Competition from the younger generation that is more comfortable with the new technologies and competition from those fresh out of college that will do the same work for less money.
It becomes an defining moment when the realization hits that you are getting old and set in your ways, still wanting to be relevant against the rush to efficiency.
Once you’ve read the article, come back and tell me your woeful stories of technology and smarter work.

“There’s been an enormous change in the American economy,” said Ed Reilly, chief executive of the American Management Association, which helps individuals as well as the nation’s biggest corporations improve their performance.
