Many times I have written and talked about the different personality types on Motivation on the Run. John Young takes a different approach to the topic by looking at task oriented people and goal oriented people.
The world has many types and many opposites in every category of life, but John does a good job of looking at these two and brings in current and recent past leaders and evaluates them as to goal or task orientation. A very good job …

Don’t you just hate goal-driven people?Oops. I realize I’ve just blurted out something that will inflame many readers, including, quite possibly, my employer. Or his wife.
The fact is, nature divides our species into those who are goal-oriented and those who are task-oriented. We cannot be both. We may do both, set goals, complete tasks, but that doesn’t change the way we are. I’m task-oriented.
Years of social research (mine) confirm that mankind has a few fundamental delineations: those who love baseball and those who hate it; those who watch game shows and those who watch soap operas; those who crave order and those don’t — the Type A-Type B thing.
