The return to San Leon was fairly uneventful, but I wanted everyone to know we arrived safe and sound. The place is a little worse for the wear, but in good shape considering Louisiana and others. The brunt of the storm missed Galveston County and ended up making landfall east a little over 100 miles from us.
Our biggest fear, a storm surge of 18-25 feet, did not materialize because of where the storm tracked, in fact, it caused the opposite to happen. The storm sucked the water out of Galveston Bay and the tide levels were about 2-3 feet below normal. Whew…
There was wind damage, some fence, shingles, antennae, etc, but all considered minor. The car is unpacked, but it will take a while to return to normal.
