Lance is the Tour de France

July 25th, 2005 · No Comments

Today’s stage of the Tour de France was a formality for Lance, and only the sprinters title was undecided. Tradition has the ride into Paris being casual, and once on the circuit in the city, the racing begins and results in an exciting sprint.

Yesterday was the Tour de Lance! The next to last day this year was an individual time trial just over 30 miles in length. They start at three minute intervals and track the times at several locations over the course. At the first check point, Lance was down to Basso by seven seconds, but by the next check, Lance was the fastest and he didn’t slack off the rest of the way. He not only won, but won by a good margin (23 seconds) over Jan Ullrich and more than a minute over the next fastest.

What a great day Saturday was… except for Mickael Rasmussen. He had two crashes and four bike changes and dropped from third in the GC to seventh. Not a good day for him at all.

Number Seven is very special and just another goal met. Paris in Yellow.

What is your motivation?
