I have fallen into the trappings of my sales life. That’s right, I have made a decision on the Motivation podcast that I think will make it better.
Having listened to a lot of tapes and read many books, I fell into others habits without even realizing it. Think about the last tape set you listened to. Most of the information is put together so that it fits nicely into a ten or twelve tape set. Each talk must be twenty-eight minutes long to fit on one side of a Sixty minute tape. Books must have, say 5000 words in a chapter and fit nicely into the overall plan. The material was very neutral and made to appeal to a large group of “customers” to help the sales numbers.
The first two podcasts have been a rush, both in time and feelings, but the one of concern is time. The one thing about a podcast is that it is my thing and I don’t have to do it like the “professionals” with time and word constraints. I prefer this to be more conversational in content. It needs more real life scenarios and eventually, real examples from you. This should not only be fun, but a share of information between all who share. Comments are not only encouraged, they are required if this is to be a forum for solving problems on motivation.
Silly me, I thought (in the beginning) I could cover the four personality types in one podcast. That is not possible, and in fact, it should take a full cast on each one, by the time we talk about real life situations and examples.
This can be pertinent to someone coaching a 9 year olds softball team, or a shop foreman with a couple of people under him. By taking time to examine these better, I think it can be made more practical for users. So there it is. I am not going to slow down my speech pattern, that would just be wrong, but I am going to work into more details at each level.
I also need examples from you to drive home the reality of all this.
We’ll talk next week…
