I listened to the 2nd podcast this morning on the way to work and I noticed a couple of things I would like to comment on.
1. The sound quality was much better than on the first one.
I face a problem a little different than other podcasters because of recording this outside and next to the water. This brought about a couple of problems to overcome, wind and birds. The birds are not really a problem, but if you listen closely you will notice them occasionally. The wind, however, was a big problem. The first podcast had to be taped three times over two days to get one that was acceptable to post.
The solution was to purchase a windscreen for the mic and move forward. The windscreen did a couple of things also. It makes me look like a real pro with the big “ball” mic next to my mouth and it completely stopped the wind noise, without stopping the occasional bird sound. It also caused the volume to be quite a bit higher on the recording. In listening to it, I didn’t notice any clipping or other problems with the recording, so I am crediting the windscreen with helping that too.
2. I say “Okay?” a lot.
I should watch this. ’nuff said.
